MyShoulder : a Medacta solution
MyShoulder technology enhances the benefits of a standard shoulder replacement by offering an accurate and faster procedure, through the use of surgical instruments tailored to each patient.
Why MyShoulder?
MyShoulder fits the anatomical shape accurately, allowing for the precise preparation of the bone to receive the prosthesis. It has been proven that an accurate positioning of the prosthesis leads to an increased survival of the implant.
The use of MyShoulder technology is very simple and straightforward. It potentially allows the surgeon to reduce the operating time, thus decreasing the time under anesthesia and the risk of infection.
Conventional procedures and MyShoulder
The positioning of a shoulder prosthesis is performed using surgical instruments which prepare the bone to receive the prosthesis.
In conventional procedures, surgical instruments are the same for all patients.
The MyShoulder surgical instruments fit your anatomy accurately, because they are tailored for you.The MyShoulder instruments are manufactured with innovative 3D printing technology. This solution offers a very accurate manufacturing process and the highest design flexibility to match your shoulder anatomy. This allows for the creation of instruments specifically tailored for your shoulder, while always respecting high quality standards. MyShoulder allows for preparation of the bones to receive the prosthesis, respecting the characteristics of your anatomy.
The MyShoulder adventure
The MyShoulder instrumentation includes patient-specific surgical instruments which fit your shoulder accurately.
The surgeon will request that you undergo a 3D scan (CT) of your shoulder.
Based on the 3D scans, Medacta will create a 3D model of your shoulder.
Using the model of your shoulder, Medacta engineers assist the surgeon and create your personalized surgical instruments.
Prior to surgery, your surgeon will receive the 3D printed MyShoulder instruments and the 3D bone models which are specific for your shoulder. These instruments will be used to perform the surgery.
